Winter Storm Closure

The National Weather Service is predicting freezing rain and sleet to begin early Thursday morning, with a wintry mix continuing through Thursday. The ILC wants everybody to be safe. If possible, please work from home Thursday and Friday.

Here's a list of what to expect from ILC:

ACCESS

  • The vehicle gates will be locked open Wednesday evening so they do not freeze shut.

  • Most streets and sidewalks will not be shoveled or salted. Expect them to be slippery.

  • The heat in all buildings will be left on as normal. The systems are not strong enough to heat offices to a comfortable temperature when the outside air is below freezing.

  • DIU doors that are normally unlocked on weekdays will be locked. DIU has announced that all classes will shift to an all-virtual footing (both offices and classes) for Thursday and Friday.

  • All badges will continue to work their normal schedules. You can get to your office if you need to. Be careful of the slippery outside and be prepared for the cold inside.


SERVICES

  • The Dining Hall will be closed, but food will be taken to the Guest House Wednesday afternoon for residents there.

  • The Housing office will be closed

  • The GTIS store front will be closed. Some staff may be in the office.

  • The Welcome and Information Center in the Mahler Building will be closed. We will be answering the phones from home.

  • If you see a maintenance emergency, such as a broken water line, please call (972) 708-7425. For maintenance needs that can wait, please e-mail Maintenance_Dallas@sil.org.
